Product Description
Cylinder Works cylinder kits contain Vertex pistons, pins, and rings. Vertex’s four-stroke pistons are forged from the highest quality 2618 aluminum alloy for superior strength and durability. They use unique piston profiles and compression ratios and are offered in various sizes to maximize power and performance while reducing blow-by and oil consumption. In addition to their unique design every Vertex piston has a Molybdenum disulphide (Mos2) coating on the piston skirt. This reduces friction which not only reduces wear and increases horsepower, but it helps with break in as well.
Vertex piston pins use nitride coated pins which are normally used for very high performance four-stroke engines utilizing a bronze bushing, or with engines using a steel connecting rod without bearings. This hardened surface is highly wear resistant and provides anti-galling properties. The nitriding process is a highly specialized surface treatment that produces a highly wear resistant surface. Vertex’s latest generation two-stroke and four-stroke piston rings are also nitride coated and/or chrome plated, increasing wear resistance and extending durability. Vertex piston rings are exact OEM replacements.
Cylinder Works cylinders use nickel silicon carbide plating on the bore of every cylinder, standard or big bore, in the entire product line. Nickel silicon carbide allows for tighter tolerances between the piston and cylinder in larger bores, provides a low friction surface, is extremely durable, and allows for greater heat dissipation to the water jacket. The end result is a cylinder that not only yields higher performance with less weight, but will provide enthusiasts with a durable and reliable upgrade to their bike or ATV at an affordable cost.
